Summer School in Cambodia
If somebody asks me to describe Summer School in Cambodia only in one word, I would probably say that it was AMAZING! Maybe you are now asking why. So, let me explain it.
When I came to Cambodia first, I must admit that I was a little bit nervous because I really didn´t know, what to expect, although I travel quite a lot. I was also a little afraid of how it will be during summer school programme at the Royal University of Agriculture – RUA. What if the Cambodian students there won´t be friendly? What if we won´t understand each other? What if I simply won´t like this Cambodian summer school? These questions came to my mind while we were arriving at RUA campus first day.
Well, to be honest, all these questions disappear few hours after official start of summer school. In my opinion, there were no barriers between Czechs and Cambodians and during a first break, we started talking. It was very funny to try to remember and also to pronounce correctly all the Khmer names, which sounds sometimes quite strange for Czechs. I also have great memories of our trip to Oudong or doing team research on a street with tourists.
Two-week summer school fled very quickly because we spent a great time together. For me, the best day of this summer school was probably the last one. All the students together cooked food, ate, sang, danced and in the evening, we went to the city to the party. On the other hand, this day was also the saddest day at the same time because summer school was finishing, and I had to leave next day. But still I think we enjoyed this last day and whole summer school properly and I hope that it will be possible to repeat it soon.
