The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (CZU, Czech Republic) and the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Hohenheim (UHOH, Germany) offer the unique opportunity for students to simultaneously receive two Master degrees in the area of „Agricultural Sciences and Farming Systems in the Tropics and Subtropics“ in only 2 years.
- Students study the first year at the home university and the second year at the host university abroad
- Combination of the existing single degree programmes „Tropical Farming Systems“ at CZU and „Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics and Subtropics“ at UHOH
- The Master thesis supervised by the supervisors of both universities jointly
- Language of instruction: English
- After successful completion, students get two diplomas/two degrees
- CZU: Ing. in Tropical Farming Systems (equivalent to MSc.)
- UHOH: MSc. in Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics and Subtropics
The main objective of the Double Degree programme is to enable students to profit from the different backgrounds of teaching and research of the partner universities in the area of tropical agriculture. In addition to the existing single degree programmes, the double degree shall offer an additional benefit for the students by:
- An increased selection of modules offered on tropical agriculture,
- the acquirement of soft skills in different teaching environments as well as cultural backgrounds,
- Performing scientific work under the supervision of two academics from two different universities.

Study Contents
The two-year Double Degree program starts in October each year. It consists of 120 credits. All modules are taught in English. 30 credits are thesis related, approximately one half of the remaining part of credits are compulsory for every student and one half are elective.

Admission Requirements
Students require a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or an equivalent degree in Agriculture or related Life Sciences. Their B.Sc. should include at least three years of university studies. The selection will be based upon grades, educational background, motivation and relevant professional experience. Admission criteria also comprise English language skills.

There will be separate local admission committees at CZU and UHOH, but common admission criteria. Admission at the home university is automatically accepted at the host university. Students starting at CZU need to be registered as full-time students for the whole DD programme at CZU. In addition, students will be registered at UHOH as degree-seeking students during the second year (for at least one year) to be eligible for receiving a UHOH degree.
Tuition fee
- For students starting at CZU, the fee is 40,000 CZK per year (approx. 1,500 EUR).
- Students can apply for various scholarships offered at CZU to cover travel costs to Germany.
