A New project within H2020 programme titled „Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership for Food and Nutrition Security, and Sustainable Agriculture (LEAP4FNSSA)” was officially launched in Accra, Ghana at these days. Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences CZU Prague is one of 35 implementing institutions from EU and Africa. Objective of the project is to establishing a Europe-Africa International Research Consortium that will provide a tool for all European and African institutions ready to engage in a sustainable partnership platform for research and innovation on food and nutrition security as well as functional and sustainable agriculture. Two project experts, Vladimir Verner and Jan Banout, represented the faculty on the kick-off meeting.
Implementation period of the project is from 2018 to 2022 with EC funding contribution exceeding 5 mil. EUR. “I believe that this initiative will contribute to effective and reasonable alleviation of the most challenging issues linked to food security and nutrition of people living in Sub-Saharan Africa”, says Jan Banout. Vladimir Verner added “We are happy that our faculty is part of this consortium so we can contribute to solving these pressing global issues and to share our experiences with our colleagues from both continents”. They both agreed on that successful start of the project would result into its successful implementation.
