Agrinatura works collaboratively for agricultural research, education, and sustainable development
Agrinatura supports agricultural research and development by creating a network of higher education institutions, establishing project consortia, leading policy dialogue, and providing an evidence-based knowledge platform for capacity building to improve the livelihoods of farmers and their communities.
Agrinatura is an Association of European Universities and Research centres. Agrinatura – the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development - consists of 34 member institutions from 16 European countries and experts across the World.
Agrinatura consists of two parts (1) the Agrinatura Association is a non-profit organisation gaining income entirely through external grants and membership and (2) Agrinatura EEIG is the Economic Interest Grouping.
Agrinatura Vision and Objectives - The major institutional voice in Europe
Agrinatura supports agricultural research and education. Its main goal is to connect European universities and create development projects focused on building the capacity in higher education. At the same time, Agrinatura and its members are interested in supporting the sustainable development of agriculture in order to improve the lives of local communities and contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 United Nations Agenda. Agrinatura is a globally recognized representative of universities actively participating in political dialogue at the highest European level, for example in the European Commission. Agrinatura cooperates with a number of European and international organizations such as ICA, RUFORUM and others.
The Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague has been hosting the secretariat since 2004. AGRINATURE is actively involved in Erasmus + projects such as AskAsia, Alfabet, SIMPLE, PISAI, ESCAPAdE, which the CZU coordinates through the FTA.
Agrinatura annually supports 8 students (young scientists) who can participate in the international conference TROPENTAG in the form of a travel grant. In 2018, 6 travel grants of € 300 were awarded. The conference in 2014 was organized by the Faculty of Tropical Agriculture and took place on September 17-19, 2014 at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. The TROPENTAG conference will return to CZU in 2022.
