Program content:
The study program fuses the disciplines of nutrition, agricultural sciences, environmental studies, alternative technologies, rural development and social sciences. The program aims to educate future leaders at the nexus of agriculture, food, biosciences and environmental science and policy, and empower them by providing rigorous training, an ethic of social change, and an intellectual community generating visions and models of alternative systems. The program is intended for applicants with interest in science and research, international organizations, NGOs as well as business. The pathway allows flexibility in choosing courses that suits specific interests of the students. Research topics include: agribusiness wildlife management, food sciences, ethnobotany, phytopharmacology, agroforestry, socio-economy, and farmers' decision making; sustainable management of natural resources, minimal and alternative technologies.
Qualification of the applicant (previous education): English level at least B2. Completed Master’s degree on faculties with Natural or Life Sciences, Agriculture, Engineering, Socio-economic or similar profile.
Further requirements: B2 level in one world language besides English (exams to be passed during the studies)
Entrance interview: Face-to-face interview (Skype possible). Applicants are encouraged to discuss their future research topic with the relevant supervisor. Without chosen topic and approval from the supervisor, the success in the admission process is limited.
Comment: The attitude to the students in the study program is rather individual. This study program is especially intended for those students, who cannot precisely follow the scheduled academic year (deadline for the application, admission, enrollment etc.). The individual study plan is developed for each student respecting their extracurricular activities as much as possible. The students within this study program are released from the common duties (except studies) at the faculty and department unless they volunteer.
