The laboratory is fully equipped for routine and safe work with biological sample potentially containg pathogenic microorganisms (BSL2) including the equipment for extraction of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA)from such samples and for further detection of specific nucleic acids by (RT-q)PCR and their sequencing by nanopore sequencer. Further, immunological assays such as ELISA and basic microbiological experiments can be performed in the laboratory.
The laboratory is primerly used by the “e4 research group”, which use it to study ecology, evolution, emergence and epidemiology of viral zoonoses and vector-borne disease. The laboratory is used by experienced researchers as well as by the students of the BSc., MSc. And Ph.D. programs who work there on the experiments necessary for their theses pregradual under supervision of experienced researcher.
