Welcoming the Delegation from Malang City, Indonesia: A Step Towards Future Collaboration

On July 30, 2024, the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague had the honor of hosting a delegation from the Regional People’s Representative Council of Malang City, Indonesia. This visit marked a nice milestone in fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Meeting with Faculty Leadership

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Petra Chaloupková, the vice-dean for International Relations, along with representatives from the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences. The meeting provided a platform for both parties to discuss potential areas of cooperation, share insights on academic and research initiatives, and explore opportunities for future partnerships.

Course Highlight: "Biogas as a New Source of Energy"

A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of the course "Biogas as a New Source of Energy" by PhD student Ricardo Chandra Situmeang, MA. This course delves into the innovative utilization of biogas, a renewable energy source derived from the anaerobic digestion of organic waste.

Topics covered included:

- Biogas Production Process: An overview of how biogas is produced from organic materials such as agricultural waste, food scraps, and sewage.

- Benefits of Biogas Technology: Discussion on the environmental and economic advantages of biogas, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reduction.

- Applications of Biogas: Exploring various applications of biogas, such as heating, cooking, electricity generation, and as vehicle fuel.

Enhancing Sustainable Energy Solutions

The delegation showed great interest in the biogas adaptation processes and its potential as a sustainable energy solution. The exchange of knowledge in this field underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global energy challenges.

The visit concluded with both parties expressing a commitment to future cooperation. The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences looks forward to nurturing this relationship with Malang City’s representatives, aiming to develop joint projects and research initiatives that will benefit both institutions and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices.
