While pursuing Engineering from India, In our last semester of degree we have to undergo a mandatory internship under a research team or a company. During my search I came across ‘Biogas Research Team’ Headed by Dr. Hynek Roubík. It matched my interests as the research being done by the team in developing nations is commendable. This suddenly sparked an interest in me to be part of this team and luckily, I got selected for the position of research intern.
During my Stay I worked on a literature review headed as “Biogas Energy Potential in India, State of Punjab: Prospects and Challenges” under the guidance of Dr. Hynek Roubík. I was also part of the experiment to calculate Biogas yields from tropical Fruit named Indian Jujube (which I brought from India). I also gave visits to the laboratory to check the progress of experiment, which was at the outskirt of the city. We also used to have monthly team meeting in which team members gave presentation of their progress and others helped them with suggestions and doubts. This really helped me to keep a track on the progress.
My overall stay was full of excitement and discovering new things. Being in a multicultural environment, discovering the beauty of Prague, attending cultural nights and making short trips to nearby cities of Czech Republic and other beautiful cities of Europe are some of the main highlights of my stay apart from research activities, which was my main motivation.
Dr. Hynek Roubík was very helpful and helped in all possible aspects during the internship. He guided me throughout the campus on first day. He use to guide my progress and giving reviews to my work. Although my internship has ended now but we are still in touch to complete the literature review and hopefully take it for publication.
I would encourage others having interest in Biogas to consider working with ‘Biogas Research Team’ and also Prague is very Student friendly and one of the most beautiful city of Europe. You will definitely cherish your decision.
