Dr. Jitka Nováková is working as a postdoc at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) which is a part of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Before she has started to work there, she obtained a Ph.D. degree at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Czech University of Live Sciences Prague. Her dissertation that was led by prof. Ladislav Kokoška was focused on plant-derived compounds as antimicrobial agents with lowered harmful effect on human intestinal microbiota. Dr. Nováková’s present research at the IOCB under the surveillance of dr. Václav Čeřovský sets its target in the antibacterial effect of peptides isolates from bee’s venom. The main issue she deals with is an inhibitory activity of these macromolecules against pathogenic yeasts of the genus Candida. Jitka is the author or the co-author of five articles in journals with impact factor. She attended several international conferences and won a price for the best student contribution in Melbourne, Australia.
